Where to sell what
What a sale leaves you depends on what you sell as well as where: some marketplaces charge one kind of item a rate of its own. For each kind below, here is what every marketplace that sells it leaves you at one example price, the most first.
Compare every marketplace at your price
Used clothes
Every marketplace here sells clothes; the fashion apps are built around them.
Sneakers
eBay’s athletic shoes rate drops once a pair sells for more, and the per-order fee goes with it.
Trading cards
eBay, Whatnot and TikTok Shop each have their own rate for cards.
Coins
Whatnot’s coin rate is the lowest commission it has.
Handmade, vintage and craft supplies
Etsy is made for these. It charges its listing fee for each item you list.
Books, movies and music
eBay charges these a higher rate than any other category.
Furniture and other big items
Big things cost a lot to ship. Sold for local pickup on Facebook Marketplace, they pay no selling fee at all.
Fine jewelry
eBay and TikTok Shop each have their own jewelry rate.
Each with free shipping, the buyer’s sales tax at 7.53% (the US average, State and Local Sales Tax Rates, Midyear 2026 ↗) and no store, ads or boosts. The share under each fee is of the price. Tap a marketplace to open its calculator with that sale filled in.
Fees are not the whole answer
The marketplace that takes the least is not always the one to sell on. Where buyers for your item already look, how fast it sells, what shipping costs you and how returns work all matter too, and we have no numbers on those. These tables show only what each marketplace takes.
Every marketplace side by side at your own price: compare them all. What each one charges, in its own terms: selling fees compared.
