On Vinted, part of the cost falls on the buyer instead: at $87.00, the buyer pays Vinted $5.05 on top.

The fee on the buyer’s sales tax
eBay, Depop, Etsy, Whatnot, Grailed and Facebook Marketplace work out a fee on the total the buyer pays, and that total includes the buyer’s sales tax. The tax is never yours to keep, but the fee on it comes out of your money. Poshmark, Mercari, Vinted and TikTok Shop take nothing on the tax.
Every calculator here counts it, at 7.53%, the US average (State and Local Sales Tax Rates, Midyear 2026 ↗), unless you change it, so “You keep” is the money that lands in your account, not a guess before the tax.
Fees that changed
- On 14 Oct 2026, eBay changed its currency conversion charge (sellers registered in the US) from 3% to 3.25%.

Fees are not the whole answer
The marketplace that takes the least is not always the one to sell on. Where your buyers already look, how fast an item sells, what shipping costs you and how returns work all matter too, and we have no numbers on those. What we can say is what each one takes, and that is what these pages are for.
